Pastor Richard and his wife Carla Bradford first founded Ellicott City Assembly (now called Hope Assembly) in Ellicott City, MD in 1989. They ministered there until September 2003, after seeing the Lord raise up a healthy, growing, congregation of 235 representing 12 different nations.

When they first moved to the Shore in '03, they ministered in a variety of ways, as the Lord would lead. For years, they prayed that the Lord would raise up more Gospel-preaching churches in the area, being led to pray, “And may the first one be in Melfa.” It was during his second interim pastorate, that Pastor Richard felt the call to pioneer again. The Lord spoke to his heart and said, “Yes, it is Melfa and YOU are the one!”

HIS Way began by renting a tiny, interior room in another church as we worked to make our Melfa property suitable for our ministry.  Once completed, we were excited to move into our new facility on March 4, 2018. We knew this was exactly where the Lord called us to be – Melfa!

Pastor Richard and Carla always say,  "The best thing about our church is our people!"  HIS Way Fellowship is a loving body of believers who desire to grow in the Lord as they give heart-felt worship to HIM.  That's why this church was named HIS Way Fellowship – it's all about HIM!

We have plans “in the works” to build for more effective ministry.  We will first build a large “shell” of a structure and finish out as we are able. The first areas to be finished will be bathrooms, nursery, Children's Church room and a fellowship hall / next sanctuary. We are looking forward to this facility so we won't be hindered by lack of space and have plenty of room to grow!

Pastor John grew up in Bel Air, Maryland. At a young age, he knew that God called him into the ministry, but wasn't sure if it was for him. At the age of 15, he fully accepted the call and could not wait to minister full time!

In 2020, he graduated from Northpoint Bible College, with a degree in Pastoral Ministry, while he and his family moved to the Eastern Shore, to be apart of the community at His Way Fellowship. Pastor John served as our Student Ministries Pastor, along side his wife and is passionate about seeing young people find a place of community and take on their faith for themselves. As of April 2023, he was unanimously elected to succeed Pastor Richard as Lead Pastor.

Pastor Amaris grew up in Newark, New Jersey. After being saved at 14, and filled with the Spirit the following year, was called into ministry, while reading a book by Christine Caine. She knew she had to tell people about Jesus!

In 2019, she graduated from Northpoint Bible College,

with a degree in Pastoral Ministry. From 2019 to 2020, she served as the Family Life Pastor at a local church in Massachusetts, before moving to the Shore. Pastor Amaris is excited to serve as Children & Youth director, as well as worship leader. She is passionate about seeing children find hope, joy, and a new life in Christ.

Pastors John & Amaris have been married since 2018. They love their son Joshie, coffee, board games, and getting to know people over a bite to eat!
